This unit is a cross-curricular unit, and includes the following scholastic subjects:  science, social studies/history, language arts/English, World Languages, mathematics.

 

OBJECTIVES:  During the course of this unit, students will do the following:

·        view and compare tools used in various trades and industries, including metalworking, construction, medicine, retail, textile, entertainment/music, farming, whaling.

·        discuss and investigate the effects of “modernization” and changes in technology.

·        examine professions and skills needed for these careers.

·        discuss effect of immigration on American industry, tracing family tree and ancestors professions.
